How Statr works: data, analysis, and limitations

Statr is an AI sports analysis tool that helps you research matchups, player props, and the selections on a bet slip. It brings available sports information into a conversation so you can examine the evidence, ask follow-up questions, and understand uncertainty before making a decision.

Statr provides analysis and information. It does not operate a sportsbook, place bets, or guarantee results.

    What Statr analyzes

Statr's supported matchup-analysis workflow covers MLB, NBA, and NFL. You can ask about a supported matchup or provide a readable screenshot of selections for review.

Different questions need different information. A moneyline discussion examines the matchup and price. A total concerns scoring. A player prop needs context about the player's opportunity and the specific threshold. The available detail depends on the sport, game, market, and sources.

General sports questions may use web research even when a dedicated matchup analysis is not available. A web-researched answer is not a promise of the same statistical coverage for every league or market.

How a matchup analysis is assembled

    1. Identify the question

The teams, event date, market, selected side, line, and price define the question. Missing or ambiguous details can limit the result. A full-game total and a first-five total should not be treated as the same wager.

    2. Gather the available information

Statr can assemble matchup data and use it to support the analysis. Depending on the request and available coverage, the context can include team or player statistics, recent results, matchup comparisons, market information, and situational factors.

Some questions also use web search for current context. Web information can include official reports and other reporting. Statr is not independent of all human-written sources, and using numbers does not eliminate bias or error.

    3. Explain the evidence

The AI interprets the available information in relation to your question. The purpose is to connect the facts to the matchup, explain conflicting evidence, and identify material limitations. Source links and citations, where provided, help you inspect the supporting information.

The interpretation can be wrong even when an underlying statistic is correct. Check whether the cited evidence concerns the right date, player, opponent, and market.

    4. Continue the conversation

Follow-up questions can examine an assumption, request clarification, or ask what would change the assessment. If the line or circumstances change, provide the new details. An earlier answer is a snapshot of the information used then, not a continuously refreshed forecast.

    How screenshot analysis works

Image reading and full analysis are separate steps. Statr first extracts the selections it can identify. You review and confirm or correct those details before continuing.

Check the names, sides, lines, prices, and event information. Blurry text, cropped selections, and unfamiliar layouts can produce errors. Confirming a selection means the input is correct; it does not certify that the selection is likely to win.

    What confidence means

Confidence is a description of the support for an analysis, including the quality and completeness of the information and the uncertainty around the conclusion. It should not be interpreted as a verified win probability or a staking instruction.

An analytical signal identifies the direction better supported by the available evidence. It does not establish that the offered odds are profitable, that a parlay's legs are independent, or that the outcome is safe.

A market-implied probability is different: it is calculated from quoted odds. A historical hit rate is also different: it describes outcomes in a past sample. Neither automatically supplies the probability of the next event. Read our expected-value explainer for examples.

    How current is the information?

Freshness varies by source and data category. A historical season statistic, a projected lineup, and a newly reported injury have different time frames. Not every input updates continuously, and current information may be unavailable for a particular request.

Check source dates and distinguish confirmed information from projections. A late scratch, a workload restriction, or a changed price can materially affect the question after the analysis was generated.

For time-sensitive decisions, verify the latest information directly with the relevant official source and check the actual market terms. Statr's answer is not a sportsbook's settlement record or a guaranteed live odds feed.

    Known limitations

    • Incomplete coverage: some games, statistics, markets, or context may be unavailable.
    • Stale or conflicting information: sources can update at different times or disagree.
    • Image-reading mistakes: extracted selections require your confirmation.
    • AI mistakes: explanations, arithmetic, citations, and interpretations can be incorrect.
    • Small samples: recent performance and head-to-head records may not generalize.
    • Dependence between selections: individual analyses do not establish a combined parlay probability.
    • Uncertain outcomes: sound research cannot remove the uncertainty of a sporting event.

    How to review an answer

Start with the exact question and the sources, then inspect the reasoning. If something looks wrong, identify the specific detail and provide a correction or a source in the conversation. Recheck the revised answer rather than assuming the correction resolved every issue.

Useful questions include "What information is missing?", "Which assumption has the biggest effect?", and "What evidence would change this assessment?"

Research without handing over your sportsbook account

The screenshot workflow does not require a sportsbook connection or betting credentials. Remove unnecessary personal details from uploaded images. For information about personal data, read Statr's privacy policy.
